TumbleTally for Android - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start a new Season?

On Android devices, you can have one TumbleTally season per year, and that season starts (by default) in September.

You can change that starting month like this:

  1. Tap Season Results on the TumbleTally menu
  2. Tap Season Start in the lower left corner.
  3. Tap a month. This affects all meets in the database.

Every meet will drop into a season automatically based on the date of the meet.
You won't see the new season in the season list until you add scores to the new meet.

I'm having trouble downloading the app from Google Play. What should I do?

Google has some tips on their site for what to do when this happens.

How do I backup or share my database?

Note: data sent from TumbleTally on an Android device can only be imported into an Android device, not iOS devices.

1. In TumbleTally, go to the menu, and select "My Data".

2. Select a database to export. There will usually only be one, called "My Data", unless you have already imported other databases.

3. Tap the "Send" button in the lower left corner.

4. Choose how you want to send the file. You can send it to someone by Email, or if you have a Google Drive or DropBox account on your phone or tablet you can send the file to one of those locations.

How do I restore or import a database into TumbleTally?

If you received an email containing a TumbleTally database, do the following:

1. On your Android device, open the received email message. There will be an attachment in the email named "TumbleTally_DB.ttdb".
2. Open the attachment (usually just by tapping it).
3. If you're asked which app to open it with, choose "TumbleTally Data Importer".
4. You'll see a message asking if you want TumbleTally to import the data. Tap "Yes".
5. You'll see a message saying the data was imported. Tap "OK".
6. You're now in TumbleTally. Open the menu and tap "My Data".
7. Tap on the "Imported Data" item in the list so that the checkmark shows on that item.
8. You now have the imported data on your new phone.

If you have a TumbleTally data file on Google Drive or DropBox that you want to import, do the following:

1. On your Android device, find the TumbleTally_DB.ttdb file in your Google Drive or DropBox.
2. Open the file (usually just by tapping it).
3. If you're asked which app to open it with, choose "TumbleTally Data Importer".
